Target GroupMaritime personnel manning fast rescue crafts, and who has to fulfill IMO-STCW convention A-VI/2-2.
Approved by STCW-78 With later amendments (Manila 2010).

ObjectiveTrain and qualify personnel manning a fast rescue craft.

Course ContentsDuring the course, the following topics are covered:

Controlling and preparing rescue craft and equipment.
Cooperation and communication.
Manouvering, search and search patterns.
Familiarisation with equipment and training in use of available rescue gear.
Communications with helicopter through radio equipment and signals.
Life saving first aid.
Training in communication – VHF/UHG communications with integrated units.

Application of the rescue craft.
Deployment and raising the rescue craft.
Coordinated rescue operations ship, platforms and other involved parties.
Pick up with Fast Rescue Craft.
Training in the use of surface swimming equipment.
Transfer techniques to vessels and fixed/floating installations.

PrerequisitesDelegates need to possess prior knowledge as coxswain/fast rescue craft.
We recommend delegates to have a VHF certificate.

The airport bus (Flybussen) or Bergen Light Rail (Bybanen) to Bergen Center (Byparken), approx. 45 min. Line 17 to Gravdalen, approx. 15 min. (last stop) and a short walk of approx. 5-10 min.

From Flesland approx. 20 min. ➤ Drive out on Kokstadflaten. Follow signs 580 and E39 Bergen (two roundabouts). Soon you will come to a roundabout: Take the first exit and keep left. You will see a roundabout until quite quickly: take the third exit in the direction of 556 Søreide and 555 Sotra. At the next roundabout: Second exit (follow straight ahead). Soon you will arrive at another roundabout: take the second exit (direction straight ahead). Next roundabout: Second exit (direction straight ahead) to 555 Sotra and E39 Bergen (see signs before roundabout). Soon you will enter the Button Tunnel (keep right). Follow signs to Nygård and out on the motorway until you reach an exit to Nygård / Gravdalen. At the next roundabout, take the second exit over the bridge and into a new roundabout. Keep right and exit at the first exit. Follow Rv582 Lyderhornsveien (past Rema 1000), and take the second driveway on the left. Drive straight ahead until you see the Plantation on the left. Then you will see a sign for the center in front of you. Follow signs and drive to the end of the road. Drive from the center towards Sotra and take the first exit after the Damsgård Tunnel. Follow the road approx. 200m and turn left at the gas station. Then follow the road until you have Gravdal Plantation on the left and continue on to the end.
In summary: nine roundabouts, one longer tunnel.

The airport bus to Stavanger city center. Line 1 to Hundvågveien, approx. 22 min. Then walk for approx. 13 min.

From Sola Airport approx. 30 min. ➤ Take the Rv509 and E39 to the center of Stavanger. Take the freeway to the end and keep right towards the center. Continue on Rv509. Drive straight ahead in the next three roundabout and through the tunnel (Bergeland tunnel). After this, turn right towards the city bridge. Follow the Fv453 over the city bridge towards Hundvåg until you reach Rosenberg Verft. Turn left towards the yard and here you will most likely see signs for the center. Follow the signs. In summary: six to seven roundabouts, bridge from downtown Stavanger (Bybrua).

Take the nose boat from Aker Brygge and be picked up by bus or organize a taxi. The boat takes 25 min, and then it takes another 25 min. by bus or taxi from Nesoddtangen. In summary: By bus, boat and flight train it takes a total of approx. 2 hours.

Airport shuttle to Trondheim City Center. Lines 11 and 75 to Høvringen. Then walk for 2 min.

From Værnes Airport approx. 35 min. ➤ Take the Meierivegen and E14 to E6 Stjørdal. Continue on the E6 to Trondheim. Then follow Rv706 Sluppen through three roundabouts, before taking the fourth roundabout onto Rv715. After about 150 meters you will see signs to the fitness center on the right. In summary: approx. six roundabouts.
